I had an unwanted link in a WordPress paragraph block. I pasted some code in and a link to my local Angular webserver was inserted. There was no security risk but the link was meaningless and distracting. I tried to delete it (WP 6.0.2) and I found I could not remove the link. I found a simple solution.

The Problem – There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete a link in a WordPress paragraph block

After I copied and pasted some text from an Angular project, there was an unwanted link

I tried deleting the link but it reverted back.

The solution – a simple copy and paste as plain text.

Ok, I could just delete the link and manually type 54502. Ooops, I mean 54503. Copying and pasting as plain text will ensure that you don’t make any typos. In this simple example, it isn’t a big deal but your anchor text could be more complex. Below you see the results of the copy/text paste. The link is gone,

Summary

This is simple and it works. Some other paragraph blocks will have a link removal button/icon. However, I do a lot of my WordPress text with a simple paragraph block.
