Be sure to check your Junk/Spam folders on a regular basis. While applications and providers are getting better at identifying junk mail and spam, the systems aren’t perfect.
Many people with Gmail accounts never check their junk mail or spam folders. With a default setup, Google will determine if an incoming email is junk mail or spam. The system is very good but it isn’t perfect. Regardless of the email system you use, you should make it a practice to check your junk/spam folders on a regular basis.
The junk mail and spam folders are often cleared automatically on a predetermined schedule. The exact method of checking will vary a little depending on your email client and provider.
In most cases, you should look for a folder labelled ‘spam’, ‘junk’ or ‘junk email’. Simply browse through and see if there is anything that should not be classed as spam or junk.
Most systems will give you an ability to mark a sender or type of email as ‘not spam’ or ‘not junk’.
This isn’t something you need to do every day. On the other hand, it would be a good idea to check your junk/spam folders at least twice a month.
